Trieste, 20 marzo 2017 – Si è svolta oggi presso lo stabilimento di Marghera la cerimonia di impostazione in bacino di “Nieuw Statendam”, la nuova nave da crociera che Fincantieri sta realizzando per la società armatrice Holland America Line, brand del gruppo Carnival Corporation & plc, primo operatore al mondo del settore crocieristico.
Il blocco dell’unità, lungo 11,3 metri, largo 34,8 e dal peso di 260tonnellate, fa parte della sezione di centro nave di “Nieuw Statendam”, la cui consegna è prevista alla fine del 2018.
La nuova unità, gemella di “Koningsdam”, nuova nave della classe “Pinnacle” consegnata a marzo 2016 dallo stesso stabilimento, avrà una stazza lorda di circa 99.800 tonnellate, una lunghezza di quasi 300 metri e potrà ospitare a bordo fino a 2.650 passeggeri in oltre 1.300 cabine. Sarà contraddistinta da uno stile moderno e contemporaneo, in armonia con le caratteristiche di classica eleganza, di cui si caratterizzano tutte le navi del brand. Il design sarà curato, come per “Koningsdam”, da due dei maggiori e prestigiosi studi di architettura del mondo, Tihany Design e Yran & Storbraaten, che si sono ispirati alla musica per la progettazione delle numerose aree pubbliche.

Il progetto della nave sarà orientato all’ottimizzazione dell’efficienza energetica e al minimo impatto ambientale, rispondendo alle più stringenti e attuali normative di sicurezza.
Dal 1990 ad oggi Fincantieri ha costruito 76 navi da crociera (di cui ben 53 dal 2002), altre 31 unità sono in costruzione o di prossima realizzazione negli stabilimenti del gruppo.

FINCANTIERI: DRY DOCK WORKS START ON “NIEUW STATENDAM”
Trieste, March 20, 2017 – The keel laying ceremony for “Nieuw Statendam”, the new cruise ship which Fincantieri is building for the shipowner Holland America Line, a brand under Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise operator, took place today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera (Venice).
The first building block of the ship, 11.3 meters long, 34.8 wide and weighing about 260 tons, is part of the central section of “Nieuw Statendam”, due to delivery at the end of 2018.
The new unit, sister ship of “Koningsdam”, the new “Pinnacle” class ship delivered in March 2016 from the same shipyard, will be about 99,800 gross tons, almost 300 meters long, with accommodation for up to 2,650 passengers on board in more than 1,300 cabins. She will be characterized by a modern and contemporary style which blends perfectly with the traditional elegance, which distinguishes all the ships in the fleet. The design will be created, as for “Koningsdam”, by two of the world’s major and prestigious architecture studios, Tihany Design and Yran & Storbraaten, with “the architecture of music” being an inspirational element for the design of many public areas.
The ship’s technology is aimed at optimizing energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact and it responds to the most demanding and current safety regulations.
Fincantieri has built 76 cruise ships since 1990 (of which 53 from 2002) and other 31 ships are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards.
