È’ la prima unità realizzata da Fincantieri per il brand Seabourn Cruise Line
Trieste, 30 novembre 2016 – Si è svolta oggi presso lo stabilimento di Marghera la cerimonia di consegna di “Seabourn Encore”, la prima di due navi da crociera extra-lusso ordinate a Fincantieri dalla società armatrice Seabourn Cruise Line, brand di Carnival Corporation, primo operatore crocieristico al mondo.

Erano presenti alla cerimonia, tra gli altri, per la società armatrice Micky Arison, Chairman di Carnival Corporation, Richard D. Meadows, Presidente di Seabourn Cruise Line e Arnold Donald, Amministratore delegato di Carnival Corporation,mentre per Fincantieri, il Presidente,Giampiero Massolo e l’Amministratore delegato,Giuseppe Bono.
“Seabourn Encore” è stata costruita secondo le caratteristiche e le soluzioni tecniche d’avanguardia che fanno di Seabourn uno fra i brand di maggior prestigio nel segmento extra-lusso e con essa continuerà l’ammodernamento della flotta cominciato nel 2009.
L’unità ha 40.350 tonnellate di stazza lorda, è lunga circa 210 metri, larga 28 e può raggiungere i 18,6 nodi di velocità di crociera. Può inoltre ospitare a bordo 600 passeggeri, in 300 spaziose suite tutte dotate di balcone privato. Ogni ospite potrà quindi godere di un servizio esclusivo dato da un rapporto di quasi 1 a 1 tra passeggeri ed equipaggio.
Il progetto di “Seabourn Encore” è particolarmente innovativo in quanto orientato all’ottimizzazione dell’efficienza energetica e al minimo impatto ambientale, e nella costruzione sono state adottate tecnologie avanzate con standard che superano le richieste delle normative di riferimento.

Richard D. Meadows, Presidente di Seabourn Cruise Line, ha dichiarato: “Abbiamo aspettato trepidanti questo grande giorno per oltre due anni. Seabourn Encore è diventata una nave straordinaria che segnerà un nuovo traguardo nella comune concezione delle crociere extra-lusso. Sono molto orgoglioso della nostra partnership con Fincantieri, perché è stato per noi davvero un grande piacere lavorare insieme, a partire da un pezzo di acciaio grezzo, fino alla consegna di una nave così incredibile che aumenterà il prestigio della nostra flotta Seabourn”.
Giuseppe Bono, Amministratore Delegato di Fincantieri ha commentato: “Il gioiello che consegniamo oggi è il primo realizzato per Seabourn, e una seconda nave per questo nuovo e prestigioso cliente verrà impostata proprio fra due giorni nel nostro cantiere genovese di Sestri Ponente. Lo dico con una punta di orgoglio e tanta soddisfazione, perché Seabourn rappresenta l’alta gamma di offerta del gruppo Carnival e perché Fincantieri è ormai riconosciuta un riferimento assoluto dal mercato, per la sua capacità di offrire prodotti su misura ad un ventaglio di clienti sempre più ampio”. Bono ha proseguito: “Questo risultato lusinghiero è stato reso possibile grazie alla strategia caparbiamente perseguita negli ultimi anni che ci ha permesso di essere nelle migliori condizioni per cogliere tutte le opportunità che il mercato ha messo a disposizione”.
“Seabourn Encore” sarà presentata ufficialmente al pubblico con una cerimonia di battesimo che si terrà a Singapore il prossimo 7 gennaio. Alla presenza di ospiti e artisti internazionali, la madrina della nave sarà la soprano di fama mondiale Sarah Brightman. La nave poi partirà per la sua prima crociera inaugurale di 10 giorni in Indonesia nel mar di Giava.
Fincantieri ha costruito dal 1990 ad oggi 75 navi da crociera, 62 delle quali per i diversi brand di Carnival, mentre altre 26 unità sono in costruzione o di prossima realizzazione negli stabilimenti del gruppo, di cui 9 per società armatrici del gruppo statunitense. La cooperazione tra Fincantieri e il Gruppo Carnival ha una valenza strategica notevolissima non solo per l’industria cantieristica ma per l’intera economia nazionale. Il gruppo statunitense, in virtù della partnership con Fincantieri, rappresenta, infatti, uno dei maggiori investitori stranieri in Italia avendo investito dal 1990 ad oggi un ammontare complessivo di quasi 30 miliardi di euro.

FINCANTIERI DELIVERS “SEABOURN ENCORE” IN MARGHERA
It is the first unit built by Fincantieri for the brand Seabourn Cruise Line
Trieste, November 30, 2016 – The handover ceremony of “Seabourn Encore”, the first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships ordered to Fincantieri by the ship owner Seabourn Cruise Line, brand of Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, took place today at the Marghera shipyard (Venice).
The ceremony was attended for the ship owner, among others, by Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, Richard D. Meadows, President of Seabourn Cruise Line and Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, while Fincantieri was represented by the Chairman, Giampiero Massolo and the CEO, Giuseppe Bono.
“Seabourn Encore” was built according to the standards and cutting-edge technical solutions that make Seabourn one of the most prestigious brands in the ultra-luxury segment and will continue the fleet modernization started in 2009.
The unit is 40,350 gross tons, 210 metres long and 28 metres wide and is able to reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It carries up to 600 guests in 300 spacious suites featuring a private veranda. Every guest will therefore receive an extraordinary level of treatment and personalized service, with a nearly one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio.
“Seabourn Encore” is a particularly innovative project, focused on energy optimisation and minimum environmental impact. The ship was built using the very latest technologies, whose standards exceed the requirements of the relevant regulation.

Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, commented: “The jewel we are delivering today is the first ship built for Seabourn and dry dock works for the second vessel for this new and prestigious client will start in two days in our shipyard in Sestri Ponente. “Seabourn Encore” will be officially christened at a ceremony in Singapore on January 7. International recording artist and world’s best-selling soprano, Sarah Brightman, will be the godmother and officially name the ship during the celebration. The vessel will then depart on its Inaugural Voyage, the 10-day Gems of the Java Sea cruise, bound for Indonesia.
Fincantieri has built 75 cruise ships from 1990 to today, 62 of which for Carnival’s different brands, while other 26 are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards and 9 of these are for the shipowners of the American group. The cooperation between Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation has a remarkable strategic value not only for the shipbuilding industry but for the entire national economy. The American group, thanks to the partnership with Fincantieri, is one of the major foreign investors in Italy with an overall amount, from 1990 to today, of almost 30 billion euros.
