Trieste, 26 gennaio 2017 – È stata consegnata oggi, presso lo stabilimento Fincantieri di Ancona, “Viking Sky”, la terza di una serie di sei navi da crociera che la società armatrice Viking Ocean Cruises ha ordinato a Fincantieri.
“Viking Sky”, come le unità gemelle, si posiziona nel segmento di mercato di unità di piccole dimensioni. Ha infatti una stazza lorda di circa 47.800 tonnellate, è dotata di 465 cabine e può ospitare a bordo 930 passeggeri, con una capacità di accoglienza totale di oltre 1.400 persone, compreso l’equipaggio.
La nave è stata progettata da architetti e ingegneri navali di grande esperienza, tra cui un team di interior design della Smc Design di Londra, e dello studio Rottet di Los Angeles, che hanno voluto trasferire su “Viking Sky” un design moderno di ispirazione scandinava, caratterizzato da un’eleganza sofisticata e al tempo stesso funzionale. Oltre alle cabine, dotate ognuna di balcone privato, la nave presenta anche spaziose suite con ampie viste, due piscine, di cui una a sfioro posizionata a poppa della nave, nonché un’area wellness progettata secondo la filosofia del benessere tipico dei paesi nordici, con sauna e grotta di neve.
Le unità Viking Ocean Cruises sono costruite secondo le più recenti normative in tema di navigazione e fornite dei più moderni sistemi di sicurezza, compreso il “Safe return to port”. Sono inoltre dotate delle più avanzate tecnologie per il risparmio energetico e per soddisfare le più severe normative ambientali con motori ad alta efficienza energetica e un sistema di lavaggio dei gas di scarico.
La prima della serie, “Viking Star” è stata realizzata e consegnata nella primavera del 2015 dal cantiere di Marghera, la seconda, “Viking Sea” ha preso il mare dal cantiere di Ancona nei primi mesi del 2016, mentre “Viking Sun”, la quarta unità varata un mese fa nello stesso stabilimento, entrerà in servizio nell’autunno del 2017. Le ultime due navi, invece, verranno consegnate rispettivamente nel 2018 e nel 2019.
Fincantieri ha costruito dal 1990 ad oggi 76 navi da crociera, mentre altre 27 unità sono in costruzione o di prossima realizzazione negli stabilimenti del gruppo.

FINCANTIERI: “VIKING SKY” DELIVERED IN ANCONA
Trieste, January 26, 2017 – “Viking Sky”, the third of six cruise ships Viking Ocean Cruises has ordered from Fincantieri, has been delivered today at the shipyard in Ancona.
“Viking Sky”, as its sister ships, is placed in the small cruise ship segment. In fact, with a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons, it has 465 cabins with accommodation for 930 passengers, with a total capacity of over 1,400 people, including the crew.
The ship has been designed by experienced naval architects and engineers, including an interior design team of London-based SMC Design, and Los Angeles-based Rottet Studios, who transferred on “Viking Sky” a modern design of Scandinavian inspiration, featuring sophisticated elegance but functional, at the mean time. In addition to the all-veranda staterooms, the ship also has spacious suites with sweeping views, two pools, of which one Infinity Pool off the stern, and a Spa designed according to the wellness philosophy of the Scandinavian tradition, with a sauna and a snow grotto.
The Viking Ocean Cruises units are all built according to the latest navigation regulations and equipped with the most modern safety systems, including the “Safe return to port”. Furthermore, they feature the most advanced technologies for energy saving and for meeting the strictest environmental regulations with energy-efficient engines and an exhaust gas cleaning system.
The first of the series, “Viking Star”, has been built at the shipyard in Marghera and delivered in spring 2015, the second, “Viking Sea”, took the sea from the shipyard in Ancona at the beginning of 2016, while “Viking Sun”, the fourth unit launched in the same yard a month ago, will enter into service in autumn 2017. The last two units will instead be delivered respectively in 2018 and 2019.
Fincantieri has built 76 cruise ships from 1990 to today, while other 27 are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards.
