Saliranno così a 16 le navi per questo armatore
Trieste, 6 marzo 2018 – In occasione del Seatrade Cruise Global, il più importante appuntamento annuale del comparto crocieristico in corso in questi giorni a Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA), Fincantieri e Viking hanno annunciato di aver raggiunto un accordo per ulteriori 6 navi, cheporterebbero a un totale di 16 il numero complessivo di unità costruite in partnership dalle due società, estendendo l’orizzonte della collaborazione fino al 2027.
L’accordo per le nuove navi, le cui consegne sono previste negli anni 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, è soggetto a condizioni specifiche. Di concerto con la società armatrice, infatti, Fincantieri svilupperà un progetto evoluto, basato sulle caratteristiche di successo delle navi precedenti, aggiornate e rivisitate secondo le più recenti tecnologie disponibili sul mercato.
L’attuale flotta oceanica di Viking comprende navi che dispongono esclusivamente di cabine veranda, con una stazza lorda di circa 47.800 tonnellate, e una capacità di ospitare a bordo 930 passeggeri in 465 cabine.
Ad oggi Fincantieri ha consegnato 4 navi a Viking Ocean Cruises. La prima della serie, “Viking Star”, è stata realizzata nel cantiere di Marghera e consegnata nel marzo 2015; la seconda, la terza e la quarta, “Viking Sea”, “Viking Sky” e “Viking Sun”, hanno preso il mare dal cantiere di Ancona rispettivamente nel marzo 2016, gennaio 2017 e settembre 2017. Le ulteriori sei unità in portafoglio verranno consegnate nel 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 (2 unità) e 2023.
A margine dell’annuncio odierno, Giuseppe Bono, Amministratore delegato di Fincantieri, ha commentato: “Siamo orgogliosi di aver avuto fiducia in una start up che ha ottenuto tanto successo. Nel 2012, infatti, la collaborazione tra noi e questo prestigioso armatore è partita con due navi, e oggi siamo arrivati addirittura a 16 unità. Si tratta di un record assoluto, il maggior numero di navi per un cantiere per conto di un singolo armatore, che fa di Viking, già primo operatore nel comparto cruise fluviale, leader anche in quello delle navi di piccole dimensioni destinate alle crociere oceaniche”. Bono ha continuato: “L’accordo inoltre conferma il momento eccezionale della domanda in questo settore, che consente a Fincantieri di consolidare la propria leadership mondiale, ponendo le basi per incrementare il portafoglio ordini con carichi che danno già oggi tranquillità di lavoro per i prossimi dieci anni”.

FINCANTIERI AND VIKING: AGREEMENT FOR 6 FURTHER SHIPS
The number of units built for this company rises to 16
Trieste, March 6, 2018 – During the Seatrade Cruise Global, the most important annual event in the cruise sector, currently under way in Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA), Fincantieri and Viking have announced that they entered an agreement for 6 further ocean ships, which would lead to a total number of 16 units built in cooperation between the two companies, expanding the horizon of the partnership until 2027.
The understanding for the new ships, whose delivery is scheduled for the years 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, is subject to specific conditions. In fact, Fincantieri and the shipowner will develop an advanced project based on the successful characteristics of the previous ships, updated and revisited in line with the latest technologies available on the market.
Viking’s current ocean fleet includes ships having exclusively all-veranda staterooms, a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons with accommodation for 930 passengers in 465 cabins.
As of today, Fincantieri has delivered 4 ships to Viking Ocean Cruises. The first of the series, “Viking Star”, has been built at the shipyard in Marghera and delivered in March 2015; the second the third and the fourth, “Viking Sea”, “Viking Sky” and “Viking Sun”, took the sea from the Ancona shipyard respectively in March 2016, January and September 2017. The further six units in the order book will be delivered respectively in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 (2 units) and 2023.
On the sidelines of today’s announcement, Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, commented: “We are proud to have trusted a start up which has proved highly successful.
