Accordo da oltre un miliardo di euro per i brand Holland America Line e Princess Cruises
Trieste, 19 gennaio 2017– Fincantieri ha firmato un memorandum of agreement con il gruppo statunitense Carnival Corporation & plc per la costruzione di due nuove navi da crociera, del valore complessivo di oltre 1 miliardo di euro, che saranno destinate ai brand Holland America Line (HAL) e Princess Cruises. I relativi contratti sono soggetti a diverse condizioni tra cui il finanziamento al gruppo armatoriale, e si attende saranno operativi nel corso della prima parte del 2017.
L’unità per HAL sarà costruita presso lo stabilimento di Marghera con consegna nel 2021. Con 99.500 tonnellate di stazza lorda e una capacità di 2.660 passeggeri, sarà la terza nave della serie “Pinnacle” dopo “Koningsdam”, consegnata nel marzo 2016, e “Nieuw Statendam”, che sarà ultimata nel 2018, entrambe presso il cantiere di Marghera, e conterrà alcune delle soluzioni innovative già introdotte nella classe.
L’unità per Princess Princess sarà realizzata a Monfalcone ed entrerà a far parte della flotta dell’armatore nel 2022, avrà una stazza di circa 145.000 tsl e potrà accogliere 3.660 passeggeri, che ritroveranno a bordo i classici elementi di pregio che distinguono la flotta Princess. Sarà la sesta nave della fortunata classe “Royal”, che ha preso avvio con “Royal Princess” nel 2013, proseguita con “Regal Princess” l’anno successivo e con “Majestic Princess”, la prima nave costruita da Fincantieri destinata al mercato cinese, la cui consegna è prevista per la fine di marzo 2017. Altre due unità gemelle saranno consegnate da Fincantieri nel 2019 e 2020.
Ciascuna di queste unità sarà progettata e sviluppata specificamente per il brand e per gli ospiti di riferimento.
“Siamo estremamente soddisfatti di annunciare ufficialmente queste due nuove navi e proseguire sulla via di successo delle loro unità gemelle che i nostri ospiti già conoscono” ha dichiarato Arnold Donald, CEO di Carnival Corporation. “Il nostro obiettivo è di superare sempre le aspettative dei 11,5 milioni di passeggeri che navigano con noi ogni anno, e queste nuove navi offriranno ulteriori opportunità ai nostri ospiti, nell’ambito di un mercato mondiale delle crociere che è in rapida espansione”. Donald ha concluso: “Il potenziamento della flotta con nuove navi è una parte importante della nostra capacità strategica di crescita graduale, che include la sostituzione delle unità meno efficienti con altre più grandi e di nuova generazione”.
L’Amministratore delegato di Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono ha commentato: “Questo è uno straordinario momento per il comparto crocieristico ed è una soddisfazione particolare essere capaci di cogliere tutte le opportunità che derivano dalla sua crescita, anche grazie al sodalizio ormai storico con il gruppo Carnival. Queste navi si baseranno sulle piattaforme di successo sviluppate per Carnival. Oggi, grazie a quelle piattaforme di successo, il nostro Gruppo si appresta ad aumentare ulteriormente un portafoglio ordini già da record, assicurandosi nel contempo margini di redditività nel settore cruise”.
Questo accordo si aggiunge allo storico programma tra Fincantieri, primo gruppo cantieristico al mondo per diversificazione, e Carnival Corporation, la più grande compagnia crocieristica con 10 brand, 102 navi in attività e altre 19 in costruzione tra il 2017 e il 2022, che ha portato nel 2016 alla firma di cinque nuove unità per i diversi brand del gruppo statunitense. La collaborazione tra i due colossi del settore crocieristico ha una valenza strategica non solo per la cantieristica ma per l’intera economia nazionale. Gli accordi infatti delineano un piano di attività a lungo termine da parte di uno dei maggiori investitori stranieri in Italia, Carnival Corporation, che ha convogliato nel Paese oltre 25 miliardi di dollari in virtù della partnership con Fincantieri. Dal 1990 a oggi Fincantieri infatti ha costruito 62 navi per i diversi brand di Carnival Corporation, e altre 11 unità per il gruppo sono attualmente nel portafoglio ordini della società.

FINCANTIERI: TWO NEW CRUISE SHIPS FOR CARNIVAL CORPORATION
MoA worth more than one billion euros for Holland America Line and Princess Cruises brands
Trieste, January 19, 2017 – Fincantieri has signed a memorandum of agreement with Carnival Corporation & plc for the construction of two new cruise ships of an overall value exceeding 1 billion euros. These ships will be built for Holland America Line (HAL) and Princess Cruises. The final contracts, subject to several conditions, including satisfactory shipowner financing, are expected to be executed in early 2017.
Holland America Line’s new ship will be built at Fincantieri’s yard in Marghera, with an expected delivery in 2021. She will be a 99,500 ton and 2,660-guest ship and the third “Pinnacle” class vessel, after ms Koningsdam, delivered in March 2016, and Nieuw Statendam, scheduled for delivery in 2018, both from Marghera shipyard. The ship will feature several of the innovative venues that were already introduced on this class.
The new Princess Cruises ship will be about 145,000-tons, carrying 3,660 passengers, and will include the signature elements that have become synonymous with the Princess guest experience. She will be built in Monfalcone with an expected delivery in 2022, and will be the sixth “Royal” class vessel, featuring the successful design platform used on “Royal Princess”, delivered in 2013, “Regal Princess”, delivered in 2014, and “Majestic Princess”, the world’s first ship designed specifically for the Chinese market and scheduled for delivery at the end of March 2017, as well as its sister ships – the two yet-to-be-named vessels also under construction by Fincantieri scheduled for delivery in 2019 and 2020.
Each of these new ships will be specifically designed and developed for each brand and the guests and markets it will serve.

This agreement sums up to the historical program between Fincantieri, the world’s number one shipbuilding group by diversification, and Carnival Corporation, the largest leisure travel company with a portfolio of 10 cruise brands, operating 102 ships and 19 new ships scheduled to be delivered between 2017 and 2022, which led to the signing of contracts for five cruise ships in 2016 for several Carnival Corporation brands. The collaboration between the two cruise industry giants is of strategic importance not only for the shipbuilding industry but for the entire domestic economy. In fact, the agreements highlight a long-term program by US-based Carnival Corporation, which has invested through its partnership with Fincantieri over USD 25 billion in Italy, making it one of the country’s largest foreign investors. In fact, Fincantieri has built 62 ships for Carnival Corporation’s different brands since 1990, with another 11 ships for the group currently in the company’s orderbook.
