Le società hanno finalizzato gli accordi per le tre prime navi da crociera del nuovo operatore
Trieste, 20 dicembre 2016– I contratti tra Fincantieri e Virgin Voyages, brand del Gruppo Virgin e nuovo operatore del comparto crocieristico, per la costruzione di tre navi da crociera e del valore complessivo di circa 2 miliardi di euro, sono stati finalizzati e diventano esecutivi. Le navi saranno costruite presso il cantiere di Sestri Ponente (Genova), e le consegne sono previste rispettivamente nel 2020, 2021 e nel 2022.

Le nuove unità avranno circa 110.000 tonnellate di stazza lorda, una lunghezza di 278 metri, una larghezza di 38, e saranno dotate di oltre 1.400 cabine in grado di ospitare a bordo più di 2.800 passeggeri, assistiti da un equipaggio di oltre 1.100 persone per garantire lo stile distintivo di Virgin.
Queste navi si caratterizzeranno per il design originale e un’elevata complessità, nonché per una gamma di idee e soluzioni di progettazione altamente innovative,in particolar modo in relazione al recupero energetico e al limitato impatto ambientale. Le unità saranno infatti dotate di un sistema di produzione dell’energia elettrica da circa 1 MW che utilizza il calore di scarto dei motori diesel. Il risultato è quindi un progetto in grado di distinguere Virgin Voyages nel panorama crocieristico mondiale.

FINCANTIERI AND VIRGIN VOYAGES CONTRACTS NOW EFFECTIVE
Agreement for the first three cruise ships ordered by new cruise line finalized
Trieste, December 20, 2016 – Ship construction contracts valued at approximately 2 billion euros between Fincantieri and Virgin Voyages (part of Virgin Group of companies) for three new cruise ships have been finalized and are now effective. The three units will be built at the shipyard in Sestri Ponente (Genoa) with delivery scheduled for 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Each ship will weigh about 110,000 gross tons, be 278 meters long and 38 wide. The ships will feature over 1,400 guest cabins that can host more than 2,800 passengers, accompanied by 1,100 crew members on board to deliver the famed Virgin service.
These ships will stand out for original design and craftsmanship. They will includesome highly innovative ideas and design solutions, notably for energy recovery, reducing the overall environmental impact. For example, they will be equipped with an energy production system of approximately 1 MW, which uses the diesel engine’s waste heat. The result is, therefore, a project which distinguishes Virgin Voyages in the worldwide cruise scenery.
